Licensure

Licensure is separate from the requirements for registration by the American Dietetic Association and the process varies by state. Medical nutrition therapy cannot be practiced in WV without license. An intern who has completed the supervised practice requirements, but has not yet passed the registration exam must apply for a provisional license in West Virginia. A provisional license in West Virginia will be changed to a regular license after successful completion of the registration exam.

Interns who will practice dietetics outside of West Virginia should investigate the requirements of the state in which they plan to practice.
